There is something different about a major international football tournament.

For a few weeks, normal routines disappear. Midweek evenings suddenly become appointment viewing, group chats become tactical battlegrounds, and everyone develops strong opinions about teams they had barely thought about a month earlier. Whether you're the type of supporter who analyses every statistic or somebody who simply enjoys having football on in the background during a summer evening, tournaments have a way of pulling people in.

With the competition now rapidly approaching, we thought it would be a good excuse to do something a little different at Snus Vikings.

Over the coming weeks we'll be running our new prediction game, offering exclusive rewards for customers who correctly predict selected matches, putting some of our favourite products into a World Cup-inspired Top 11, launching a range of football-themed mystery boxes, and generally getting involved with the tournament across our social media channels.

It's not intended to be overly complicated. We just thought it would be a fun way to make the tournament a little more interactive for our customers while giving people the chance to pick up some rewards along the way.

Introducing the Snus Vikings Prediction Game

The biggest part of the promotion is our new prediction game.

Throughout the tournament we'll be selecting key matches and inviting customers to predict the outcome. Sometimes the favourites will win comfortably. Sometimes football will do what football does best and completely ignore everybody's expectations.

If your prediction is correct, you'll receive a reward directly by email. The more correct predictions you make during the tournament, the more rewards you can collect.

The really interesting part is that those rewards stack.

Rather than being a one-off discount code that disappears after a single use, you'll be able to build up a collection of rewards throughout the competition. By the end of the tournament, customers could potentially have accumulated up to eleven separate rewards which can then be used against future purchases.

Naturally, we aren't going to give away every detail in advance. Half the fun is seeing how the tournament unfolds and what opportunities appear along the way.

The main thing to remember is simple: keep an eye on your inbox.

Our World Cup Top 11

No major football tournament would be complete without endless debates about team selections.

Every competition produces arguments about who should start, who should be dropped, and which player has somehow been left out entirely.

With that in mind, we've selected our own Snus Vikings Top 11 from across the range.

Things Have Become Competitive in the Office

As tends to happen whenever a major sporting event arrives, a little internal competition has started to emerge at Snus Vikings HQ as well.

Why We're Doing It

We're a bit football obsessed in the office and this is not helped by having a fantastic view of Wembley from our warehouse and we always feel that major tournaments are supposed to be enjoyable in a fun way rather than just having the anxiety of the knockout stages.  While the younger members of the office have been spoiled by the success of the Southgate era, this feels a more realistic way of enjoying the tournament by some of the more elderly employees who suffered through the 90s and 2000s (with only Euro 96 providing a glimpse of hope)

Football should create conversation, a bit of friendly competition, and occasionally some completely irrational confidence in predictions that have absolutely no logical basis behind them.

We wanted to capture a little bit of that atmosphere and give customers something that runs throughout the competition rather than simply offering another standard promotion.

The prediction game gives people a reason to stay involved from match to match. The rewards create an incentive to keep participating. The mystery boxes add an element of surprise, and the Top 11 gives us a chance to highlight some excellent products from across the range.

Most importantly, it gives us something to share with the Snus Vikings community during one of the biggest sporting events of the year.
