The wait is finally over for the Champions and after months of near misses, Lando Norris claimed his first Grand Prix victory of the 2026 Formula 1 season with a superb drive at the Hungaroring, giving McLaren and VELO a much-needed boost before Formula 1 heads into its annual four-week summer shutdown.
Yet despite McLaren's breakthrough victory, the biggest winners in the Snus Vikings Nicotine Pouch Championship may still have been Ferrari and ZYN.
Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc once again both scored heavily, ensuring Ferrari leave the opening half of the season with a commanding advantage in both championship tables.
Norris Delivers at Last
Starting from pole position, Norris looked determined from the very first lap.
Although team-mate Oscar Piastri briefly seized the lead, Norris remained calm and controlled throughout a race packed with strategy calls, Virtual Safety Cars and changing fortunes. The turning point came when Piastri's challenge ended with a gearbox failure, allowing Norris to regain control before managing the remainder of the race perfectly. He crossed the line ahead of Max Verstappen, with Kimi Antonelli completing the podium.
For Norris and McLaren it was a long-overdue reward after spending much of the season showing impressive pace without converting it into victory.
Ferrari Continue Their Relentless Consistency
While Norris celebrated on the top step, Ferrari quietly went about another hugely productive afternoon.
Charles Leclerc finished fourth while Lewis Hamilton recovered to fifth despite receiving a five-second pit lane speeding penalty during the race.
Neither result grabbed the biggest headlines but both were exactly the kind of performances that win championships.
Ferrari may not have matched McLaren's outright pace in Budapest, but another double points finish means the Scuderia head into the summer break with their strongest championship position of the season.

Norris' victory has significantly reduced the gap to second place in the Drivers' Championship, while McLaren and VELO have trimmed Ferrari's Constructors' lead slightly. Even so, Ferrari and ZYN still carry an 87-point advantage into the summer break.
A Tough Afternoon for McLaren
Victory came at a price.
Oscar Piastri looked capable of fighting for the win after taking the lead early on, only for gearbox problems to end his afternoon prematurely. His retirement denied McLaren an opportunity to score a huge haul of Constructors' points and prevented an even bigger reduction in Ferrari's lead.
Instead, Norris was left to carry the team's challenge alone.
Cadillac and 77 Still Waiting
The search for Cadillac and 77's first championship points continues.
Valtteri Bottas endured another frustrating afternoon and remains without points in the Nicotine Pouch Championship heading into Formula 1's summer shutdown. While the results haven't reflected the effort, the team will hope the four-week break provides an opportunity to regroup before the second half of the campaign.
Four Weeks to Reflect
With Hungary complete, Formula 1 now pauses for its traditional four-week summer break.
